National Capital Region – The National Capital Commission (NCC) is pleased to welcome campers back to a modernized Philippe Lake campground, following three years of major rehabilitation work.

Beginning tomorrow, visitors can enjoy upgraded sites and enhanced services while rediscovering the friendly, natural atmosphere that has made this destination a favourite for generations.

Marking the first significant rehabilitation since the 1950s, the NCC has upgraded essential infrastructure, including electricity and drinking water, while revitalizing existing facilities and building new ones, such as a four-season indoor pavilion, a camp store, a kitchen shelter, and an amphitheater with stunning views of the lake.

Visitors will benefit from improved comfort and privacy at campsites, ten new mini-chalets (including one that is universally accessible), access to Smith Beach within the campground, and a diverse range of activities for all ages.

“The reopening of Lac Philippe Campground marks an important milestone in our efforts to preserve this iconic local destination for future generations. These improvements ensure that visitors can enjoy a more comfortable and accessible outdoor experience while staying connected to the natural beauty that defines Gatineau Park.”

- Tobi Nussbaum, Chief Executive Officer, National Capital Commission

“Access to nature is an important part of our quality of life and well-being. The reopening of Philippe Lake Campground is wonderful news for families, outdoor enthusiasts, and everyone looking to connect with the beauty of Gatineau Park. I applaud the efforts to modernize these facilities while preserving the unique character and ecological richness that make this destination so special.”

Nearby, canoe-camping is once again available at la Pêche Lake, with sites accessible 30 to 90 minutes by paddle from the boat launch.

The summer camping season runs from June 12 to October 12.
