Our special activity volunteers provide flexible support to NCC teams across a variety of programs, activities and special initiatives throughout the year. Opportunities may include assisting visitors during our seasonal programming and supporting recreational activities and events.
Description
Title: Special Activity Volunteer
Location: Various locations across the National Capital Region and in Gatineau Park
Support the NCC team in delivering activities and special projects throughout the year.
Volunteers will provide customer service, logistical support, and general event assistance while managing multiple tasks during activities and events. This volunteer program is designed for individuals who are eager to get hands-on experience and contribute to a variety of community activities and special events.
Responsibilities include:
- Assisting with last-minute event needs and stepping into volunteer roles when scheduled volunteers are unavailable.
- Acting as messengers, problem-solvers, and guides during events
- Providing flexible support wherever needed to ensure smooth event operations
This role is best suited for individuals who are energetic, adaptable, and able to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
Conditions
Commitment and schedule
Event volunteers must commit to a minimum of one shift per season and as many additional shifts as they wish. The schedule of events and the specific commitment required are determined by the NCC and communicated to volunteers in advance. The tasks may differ depending on the projects/initiatives.
Requirements
- 16 years of age or older
- Must have means of transportation
Assets
- Experience in events and/or customer service
- Bilingual (basic knowledge of French and English)
- Comfortable working in the field in different weather conditions
- Ability to adapt to different tasks as needed
- First aid certificate
- Security clearance (reliability status)
